Woven Polypropylene Packaging for the Forestry & Lumber Industry

Purpose-built lumber wrap and protective packaging solutions for Canadian sawmills, wood product manufacturers, and timber distributors.

Protecting Lumber Value from Mill to Market

Dimensional lumber, engineered wood products, and timber panels represent significant value that must be protected from mill to end customer. Moisture uptake during outdoor storage or ocean and rail transit causes warping, staining, and mold growth that can render a unit unsaleable or trigger costly warranty claims. UV exposure degrades surface quality on products destined for appearance-grade applications. And the physical handling demands of sawmill yards, rail yards, and shipping terminals require packaging that resists abrasion, puncture, and tearing under forklift and crane operations. Standard polyethylene film wraps often fail under these conditions, tearing during handling and providing inadequate UV and moisture protection for extended transit times.

Sackora's woven polypropylene lumber wrap is engineered for the specific requirements of Canada's forestry sector. Our lumber wrap combines the tensile strength of woven PP fabric with moisture-barrier lamination and UV stabilization, delivering a wrap that survives the full journey from British Columbia to export markets or eastern Canadian distribution centres without failure. The woven structure provides dramatically higher tear and puncture resistance than film alternatives, while lamination blocks moisture transmission that causes grading and value loss. Custom printing allows sawmills and distributors to incorporate species identification, grade marks, moisture content, and brand identity directly on the wrap.

We supply lumber wrap to sawmills, finger-joint and engineered wood plants, wood product distributors, and export consolidators across Canada. Our team understands the volume and scheduling demands of sawmill operations, and we work with procurement and logistics teams to plan inventory levels and coordinate delivery to minimize downtime on wrapping lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Woven PP lumber wrap provides significantly higher tensile strength and puncture resistance than standard polyethylene film. Film wraps are prone to tearing during forklift handling and in transit on flatcars or container decks, leaving lumber exposed to moisture and contamination. Woven PP maintains its integrity through the handling chain, and with PE lamination provides a comparable moisture barrier to film at a much higher structural strength.

For any lumber destined for outdoor storage — in sawmill yards, rail yards, or at distribution centres — UV stabilization is strongly recommended. Without it, the woven PP fabric can photo-degrade in as little as a few months of sun exposure, losing tensile strength and becoming brittle. Our UV-stabilized wrap is rated for extended outdoor storage and is standard on all Sackora lumber wrap products.

Yes. We offer up to 6-colour flexographic printing on lumber wrap, allowing you to include species identification, grade designation, moisture content, mill name, and other required product information. This replaces or supplements separate labelling and ensures product information stays with the bundle through the supply chain.

We supply lumber wrap in custom widths to match your bundle dimensions and wrapping line configuration. Roll lengths are sized to minimize changeover frequency on your wrapping equipment. Contact our sales team with your bundle dimensions and wrapping equipment specifications for a custom recommendation.
